VASH effect? was created by yossmiklaske
Hello everyone,
I am new here but I plan to contribute and be a part of the community after today. i am somewhat experienced in video capture and editing, but i would love to expand my archive of knowledge and you guys seem like a good resource to tap into.
I won't make this a boring first post, so can anyone explain to me what effect/processing is involved in this music video by Jeff Vash?
Specifically, I'm looking for a way to create that red green and blue silhouette that is slightly displaced from its original position. What I'm talking about can be seen very clearly at 1:10 (girl dancing with brightly colored silhouettes "behind" her).
I hope this is specific enough!
Cheers

do I need motion for the plugin to work?
I've installed the folder into the movies>motion templates>effects folder, but when I apply the effect all I get is solid blue in the preview window for the clip. Additionally, I don't get the drop down option for the parameters menu which is essential to tweaking the effect to my liking. Do I need to just drop the 50 bucks on Motion 5?

I don't think you need Motion5. My understanding is that (at least in part) Motion is built into FCPX. Obviously you need Motion to build or modify templates beyond the rigged parameters. But not to use them.

ah yes, I simply hadn't updated to 10.0.8 yet (the plugin wouldn't work with earlier versions).
It works marvelously! thank you so much for the help, this is exactly the effect i was after.
