Salam.. first i apologise for my bad english
I've finished cutting a movie by FCP7 which was filmed by RED ONE/4K so i worked at QT Pro Res files.
my question:
Can i make the colour corrections at the native rd3 red file with FCPX? and is it wise way? so what the safest steps to do?
Thank you

Depends what your final product is for. Increasing numbers of broadcast television studios are coloring their product in FCPX. The
Emmy winning show George to the Rescue
, for instance. However, some
feature film work is utilizing Resolve
to complete the task.
Personally I think the color grading in FCPX is excellent, & there are many custom settings which can give you virtually any look you can desire, also with the power to tweak to your heart's content.

Ok, well ultimately this still comes down to personal preferences, it's art, it's cinema, but you still decide on the look.
Now we have to talk budget & time frame. Reason being, tops in the game prefer Resolve for the finishing touches to the color, but do you have time for another learning curve? Not to mention buying another program & the ancillary go-betweens. Also there are plenty of color grade looks presets which might suit you just fine.
My recommendation is to take a couple of scenes save them as a separate project, color grade them in FCPX, try a few different looks in the genre you're aiming for, sit your team down & see what they think. If it's a solo effort, you make the call. Sure you can get all fancy & keep throwing money at it, but sometimes less is more. Plenty of people are achieving amazing results inside FCPX. There are guys making a living just from selling their particular tweak combinations, or after market plugs thru MagicBullet etc. If you spend some time practicing with the color controls in FCPX you may find it's all you need. If it isn't pay more to get more...

I'd personally recommend Resolve for sure, especially if you have to deliver DCP, as Resolve can do that.
I teach Resolve and find people pick up enough to use it powerfully in just a day. It is very easy to learn.
There are no go betweens, as Resolve will read FCPXML just fine. I'd ediit in FCP X native REDCODE RAW, maybe use Proxies if you must. But switch back to native R3D files when you export XML for the trip to Resolve. Resolve will pick up on the native R3d files and render out whatever you need.
Plus Resolve LITE is free.
Resolve 10 is going to be a huge game changer, thus learn 9 now, be ahead of the curve.
Finally, no matter what plugins you buy, FCP X will never come anywhere close to the quality and control you can get out of Resolve.
All that said, many folks are content to stay inside of FCP X.
Personally, now that I know Resolve, FCP X is simply to limiting for me.

Not having tried Resolve yet, I was under the impression from the
Sam Mestman presentation
that he was using some additional products to facilitate the 4k file transfer into Resolve. Have heard a lot of good things about Resolve from professionals so it must be good. However, the Emmy winning George to the Rescue show does all their color grading in FCPX, & I've spoken with their editor specifically about the show's bumpers which appear in a rich cinematic film style. He said he created that look in FCPX as a contrast from the reality segments. The Emmy awards committee must have thought it looked professional.

I am happy because FCP X can accomplish my work even to some extent, no doubt that Resolve more competent and has characteristic features but my problem is time, I do not have enough time to learn it well, and I can not imagine the director and dop sitting behind my shoulder and I'm lost between the tools and curves
