Optical Flow Greyed Out
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if it's a bug but I can't select optical for some reason...
I've slowed a clip down and I can apply frame blending, but I want optical flow!
Does anybody know what might be up?
Thanks for any help

I'm making a stop motion film and using quicktime to make image sequences out of my shots. When I export from quicktime I choose ProRes 422, 1920x1080. When I import to fcpx I choose create optimised media and proxy media. Optical flow doesn't work on these clips if I choose optimised or proxy media playback. If nobody else has this problem then it could be something to do with my quicktime export options... but then doesn't fcp transcode into a format it shouldn't proceed to have any trouble with anyway??

I used the blade tool to take away a frame I didn't want from the middle of the clip, to make the clip into one clip again I chose to create a compound clip. It's with compound clips that you can't use optical flow. I'll have to find out how to rejoin cut up clips without making them into compound ones.
Thanks for your help!

Of course I could have just removed it before compiling the photo sequence...

You have your video clip in the timeline.
Remove the frame(s) that need to go.
Copy the 2 clips either side of the removed frame.
Paste them into a new Project timeline.
Render the project as a ProRes clip - call it Glue 1.
Import the new clip.
Add the Optical flow filter.

ooh I just realised something though, you must ensure to stop using proxy media before you export with this glue workflow!
