FCP 7 to FCP X on New Mac Mini >>>UPDATE was created by dehilster
Thought it would be nice to let people know what has happened since I bought a new Mac mini and switched from FCP7 to FCPX. In general: Fantastic!
I could never go back to FCP7. Too too many things in FCPX that are nicer. Having got the tutorials from MacProVideo, I'm even doing color correction with ease. Bought Motion 5, and they work amazingly.
The Mac Mini is handling everything fine. I edit in the evenings (I'm finishing up my 7 year documentary), render it after sleeping, port it to my iPad, and watch it the next morning, taking notes on my iPad, and then editing in the evening again.
I can't believe I paid $350 for FCPX and Motion 5. The Mac Mini my not be good for those doing serious editing every day for a living, but it works super fine. Hooked up to my PC monitor and is great.
The coolest thing is with my Retina display on my iPad, and LTE wireless, I can edit my film from anywhere.
Overall, it was a great choice to switch. Those that know FPC 7 will always bemoan that FCPX doesn't do this or is too different.
I can't go back. Done deal.

Hey dehilster
Thanks for sharing that.
"LogMeIn" looks particularly cool.

So you could for example edit in a train on your way to work if you had WiFi?
