Multi-Cam and Tokyo Split Animator

Hello,

This is my first post; i did search the forum first, so i apologise in advance if i missed a trick here before i made this post.

I just started using final cut pro x coming over from photography and the last software i used before this was just adobe lightroom, so i often think absurd things can be done.. this might be one of them..

So i just shot my first serious music video, and will be shooting loads more like it for this studio. I've gotten comfortable with multi-cam, but i'm keen to take it up a notch and use Tokyo Split Animator..

Now i've seen this tutorial, but i'm finding that approach a bit clumsy to do what i want to do (e.g. use a Tokyo effect, get out of it gracefully and use another later in the video).

Has anyone come up with a workflow that would leverage these two features (multi-cam and Tokyo) in a productive way?

Right now all i can think that would work is to do the entire edit in multicam, and on the multicam clip lay markers where you see a good opportunity to use a Tokyo split animation, then go back and painfully lay the animated clips on top of the multicam clip?

Thoughts?

This is the video i just shot and where i'll be shoot most of my videos, hopefully it will illustrate what i'm keen to do..

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Joseph
