I'm making a stop motion animation, and need to crop all images together to be the same size. There must be a quicker way than doing them one by one, and a way that ensures they are all exactly the same size? am stuck

Crop one clip. Copy attributes. Highlight the other clips. Paste attributes (Transform).

oh thank you,and to copy a clip's attributes, is it done by right-clicking on the clip? (I don't have access to a mac until tomorrow so don't have the program up in front of me right now!)

If you don't know how to copy attributes, please invest in proper FCPX training.

If all you images are the same size and you want to apply the same crop, you can select all of them and do the crop. All images selected will be cropped the same way.

Definetly one of my favorites things about FcpX ;) Works with a lot of different attributes, activate/desactivate the same filter, etc...

If you do it manually in the viewer it's for a single clip. You have to use the inspector controls, while watching in the viewer to apply it to all the clips.

Strange, my inspector is emtpy when i select all, and it has only audio-video-info...
I think its about time to hit the sack...

Howeverm i found another solution for it, select a clip in your timeline that has effects and/or settings that you wish to copy and press Command-C.
Then select the clip(s) you want to apply the effects and/or settings to in the timeline & press Command-Shift-V to "Paste Attributes".
Then select which attributes from the copied clip that you want to add (paste) to the other clip(s).

It worked like a charm :)

You can use ALT+CMD+V to paste all the effects from one clip onto the other, or SHIFT+CMD+V to paste only certain attributes to the other clip.

If you want to trim multiple clips at the same time you group-select the clips on the Timeline, you go to the Inspector and select the Video tab, then under Cop you set Type to Trim (see Tom's screenshot) and you use the sliders to do your trimming.

If you see thin red lines or dots above your timeline don't worry, it's a little UI bug. In fact I thought it had been fixed by now. What version of FCPX are you running?

In the video inspector, click the crop reset button, the hooked arrow.

Got it!
That was actually the thing i tried first, but then the inspector window was blank.
It turned out that one of the last clips were conflicting with the rest, so when leaving that part out i got the option in inspector again and fixed it.
But what could have caused the conflict in my last clip? would be nice to know for future issues...
