Fly through effect in FCPX - can I do this?

I know this is more in the After Effects realm, but is there any way (or any plug-in) that can do something like the picture fly-in at around 1:50 in this video?

I suggest doing it in Motion, because you have more control over the interpolation of the keyframes. But in theory it would work in FCPX also.
I would just create a photoshop-file with the layers and animate them in FCPX: open the psd in its own timeline; then you can animate each layer. But it would be easier in Motion with so many layers.

I did something with fewer layers here (I think it´s 11 layers only):

In the end the 4 players and the whole infoboard are one psd-file.

Good advice. I had to watch the 1.50 mark again because I was expecting a different fly thru effect, as we often see with 3D titles. Doing it with flat 2D images will be considerably easier, as Innlens detailed.

I liked the effect of the birds flying out of the word Hope. Also in Innlens' football video the sound effect on the hit.

thanks

pretty sure www.motionvfx.com/store.html will have something if you are looking for an off the shelf solution

innlens - I think I have too many images to do that.

TrixTrax9000 - Your correct, I probably used the wrong name, it's not really a "fly-through" effect. What would you call it? I know it's basic and I see it all the time. There's another variation of it @ :20 in this Match.com spot:

Lee Patterson - I see one or two things on mtionfx.com. I guess I need something with all the drop zones. The producer would like to see 24-36 images come together, stay up for a bit, then repeat several times with new images. Is this just a more basic thing done in After Effects? (which I don't have). The off the shelf ones look a little slicker than what I need I think.

Here you go. You're fortunate that I've been playing around with rigs the last couple of days and this seemed a good project to play with.

Drop it into username/Movies/Motion Templates/Generators and you should have it in FCPX.

9 drop zones fly in to make a wall. I've created sliders for timing as well so you can keyframe those. The only issue was the middle screen which was too much coming straight towards the camera so I made it fly off to the side as well. If I'm still enjoying playing around with rigs I may do variations but please don't ask me to make specific amends unless you want to pay for it - I don't do other people's work for free :-) In any case, if you know your way around Motion you should be able to tweak it. If you don't, Ripple Training is a good place to start.

Good luck

EDIT - I see you want 24 screens. A bit more work than I'm willing to invest, I'm afraid. You are more than welcome to take my motion template and tweak it - open it and you'll get the gist of what you need to do. Learning Motion will be a great addition to your skillset.

Thanks robertdee ;)

That's pretty close to what I need to do. Your correct in that the best thing for me is to really dig into Motion and really learn it. These type of graphics and things keep coming up more and more. Instead of always having to send this to an AfterEffects guy, I NEED to master it. Motion always "seemed" to complicated, but...

Thanks all for the replies. : >

robertdee - looks like Ripple training has the serious Motion tutorials that would cover this. Thanks.
