Stabilizing from clip to clip

Hi guys.

I have done the horrible mistake of not filming with a tripod and it shows in the various clips that the camera is not exactly in the same position. The stabilization option has made the clips a lot smoother than they were, but from one clip to another there is a jump.

Is there anything I can do about this so that it will stabilize from one clip to another?

Scale each clip (zoom in), set spacial conform to type "none", and then adjust position to match from clip to clip. Lots of work and you'll lose some image quality.

i have imported some clips from gopro and trying to stabilize them.

Fcpx made the analyze on import but i cant find it in the edit panel , there is no way to turn it on/off… i haven't any such problem with other clips (clipw are 720p 60 fps).

FCPX no longer shows the stabilization/roling shutter in the inspector

R-click your clip in the Event Library and select "Analyze and fix". Select Analyze for stabilization in the window, click OK and wait for the process to finish, then drop the clip on the timeline. Does this bring back the Stabilization option in the Inspector?

no….. the only thing that solve the problem is to delete everything and re import my footage and re analyze it!
Its a bug and i hope Apple will solve it in a later version….

I see... but if it does work when you re-import the footage I wouldn't really call this a bug. Anyway, you can submit a bug report about this to Apple if you wish.

One thing I have found is not to let FCPX do any analyzing while importing. It slows down your import process and if you start working with imported clips while they are still being analyzed you may end up with using partially analyzed footage on your timeline. Just a thought, but it could explain why you are not getting the Stabilizing option in the Inspector when you drop a half-analyzed clip on your timeline.

It's extremely easy to analyze individual clips where and when this is required, so as a rule I stay away from analyzing anything during import.

I've had this disappearing Stabilization option as well. I found that if I right click the clip in the timeline, and find in events...it will highlight that portion in the event. Then drag that over the clip and drop it. Then select replace from start. Usually that gives me the stabilization option back in the inspector.

You only have access to the Analyze controls when the clip is dropped into a timeline, not from the Browser.

If you right-click a clip in the Browser, "Open In Timeline", you'll get access to the stabilization controls without editing it into a Project.
