FONT performance with titles. Am I the only one frustrated?

Overall, I don't have any major issues with FCP X's performance - I try to keep my list of active projects and events small to keep things extra snippy.

But I seem to have far more trouble whenever titles and fonts come into the mix. Even scrolling or switching between fonts in any title takes a noticeable 1-3 sec delay for the display window to reflect the change - and sometimes I get weird, buggy reactions like a font reverting back to an earlier selection. Playing with multiple titles at once is a recipe for even more trouble.

Is this just on my end? I experience the overall slowness on both of my machines, both running 10.0.8 (although I've had the problem for as long as I can remember, back to 10.0.3) and well-equipped (12GB and 16GB RAM, core i7, etc).

Use Font Book to verify your fonts. I used to have a lot of trouble with fonts but not in 10.08. One of the things I did was verify and remove problem fonts with Font Book.

I haven't noticed any issues like this. I run FCPX off an SSD though which really boosted the performance, totally worth the terror or ripping apart my iMac.

27" iMac
2GB Graphics
16GB RAM
OS and Program SSD
External Thunderbolt

I love this setup. Although I doubt that feeling will last...

It might also have to do with how many fonts you have installed. There are some good font accessory programs which can manage installing & uninstalling only the fonts you need when you need them, all while still letting you see them graphically. Perhaps someone here can recommend which one is best.
