Export changes after 10.0.8 update

hey, so i've been trying to find some discussion on the new changes to fcpx with the 10.0.8 update. My biggest concern is that i dont seem to be able to export in h.264 (or control any export settings for that matter).

it seems to me that Apple has made it so that you dont really have any control over export settings without purchasing Compressor!!!

is this so? or am i overseeing a way to compress my vids without paying them more money? I feel like the previous ability to control export settings was part of the program i purchased, and taking that away (unless I pay them even more money) is pretty shady on their part. Is there a way to uninstall the update and regain the ability to control these export settings?

thanks,

Aaron

What changes are you seeing in 10.0.8 that are different from say 10.0.6?

What do you mean by previous ability? Like previous as in FCP7. Yes, it's been changed bunches.

Exactly what are you talking about.

I have only used FCPX, And before updating to 10.0.8 from (probably) 10.0.6, I had a "Share" tab next to "Modify". within that "share" tab, I was able to choose from different export settings and could control the size of my file (by choosing h.264 for example)

Since the update, I no longer have a "Share" tab next to "Modify",... And i do not seem to have any options available for compressing video without purchasing compressor.

Hope that clears up any confusion in my question,

Aaron

It's all still there. The interface has been changed that's all. The Share button is a the end of the Toolbar. Select master file or other options. Select Add Destinations for preferences to add more options. Most export modules have a settings tab to select the different options available.

Of course you can export as in pervious versions. As Tom said, the interface has changed.

Just go here manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/final_cut_pro_x_user_guide.pdf and then to page 377 (Chapter 14 - Share your project). You will find all detailed instructions how to share your project and customize the export settings with the new interface.

In 10.0.5 there used to be an 'Export using Compressor settings' which was handy for doing exports optimized for Vimeo and stuff without leaving FCPX. But I am not seeing that anymore, so you have to do it manually in Compressor now (which seems to take longer as well)....

Destinations Preferences

Drag it to the sidebar on the left and specify the Compressor setting you want.

The Sharing function has been greatly improved in 10.0.8 in my opinion.
