Using camera clip names for imported XDCAM footage. How?

Using camera clip names for imported XDCAM footage. How? was created by vordio
I specifically set my XDCAM cameras so there is some logical sense in the clip naming they use at shoots.
However, FCP X is ignoring the clip names and instead just giving them names based on the time stamp.
This is very annoying but can't find any preferences anywhere that suggest different clip naming strategies.
Is there a way to tell FCP X (or the Sony XDCAM plugin it may use underneath) that I want to keep my clip names intact?

Select the clips in the browser. In the Info inspector bottom right, gear popup, Custom Name, Original Name from Camera.

Thanks. That works. At least in the event browser.
All the clips already on timeline still retain their old names (I have already been making a rough edit of yesterday's shoot). If I select those clips in time line the "custom name" option is greyed out.
Also, is there any way to make this the default behavior? I can't think of a situation in which I do not want to use my intentionally named clips. I will have to do this after every import for ever and before I make any rough edits!

You can't make this the default behavior, but it takes about four seconds or less to do this. Cmd-A, Cmd-4, Info tab, popup.

I just noticed that you can reorder the strategies list by dragging each up or down. The one I didn't like (use timestamp) was at the top of the list before. I haven't tried yet, but I wonder if it uses the first strategy it finds if the meta data is available for it. That would be a sensible design if so.
