sequence was set to Prores 244 p23.96 (i know another stupid thing) ( I tried changing sequence setting to h.264 p25 and it fubared from there)

Tried exporting prores244 p25 QT and QTC

That all sounds horrible.

I can not remember but does FCP 7 even do H.264 p25 natively?

You need to get your frame rates matching that is the minimum.

Have you tried making a new sequence with Pro Res 422 and copying the contents of your old timeline into the newly created one? And then exporting.

Hey,

Yeah FCP struggles with H.264 but at the time I didn't know this and I managed to edit and export ok first time around.

Now 6 months on, its a mess

I have tried creating another sequence settings Prores 422 p25 and I am having the same problem..

When I export as prores 422 p25 in QT it says it will take 7 hours...it seems like theres a big problem..

exporting at 1440 X 1080
sequence 1440 x 1080

if that makes a difference...

FCP 7 "can" work with native H.264, but never did "officially support" it. The Long-GOP format causes all sorts of slow downs and headaches. Yes, it also take forever to export. The only way around it is to transcode to ProRes LT, then relink the media in the Browser. Then things will fly along smooth as silk. No other options in FCP 7, really.
