Hello all,
I posted this on creative cow as well, so apologies if you are getting double vision...
Am having an issue where audio is cutting out during playback. everything else (video, audio meters, exported file etc) is fine.
I was working on the project friday and it was fine. It has only been on returning to it today that the issue has raised.
Has anybody else seen such an issue or found a cause?
Imac i7 2.93ghz, 20gb. Project and event on external FW800. FCP 10.0.8

What are the exact video and audio specs of the media? How did it get into your computer?

I encountered this for the first time today as well. I found it very strange. I work in episodic television, so I use FCPX a lot and never had this problem before. Must be a 10.0.8 bug.

Haven't seen it yet and this has been out for more than a month. Haven't seen it mentioned on a forum yet.

Captured in fcp7 from Sony fs700 into prores 422 and imported into x (no transcode) as clips in a folder.
All was working fine on Saturday. Only after booting up today did the prob appear. The project had already been sent to client as a first draft.
While this is the first time I have seen the sound cutting out (again, with levels displaying correctly and no jump in video) it seems to be symptomatic of a larger problem which appeared when I was dee into another project ( before .8 but I think after .7):
While the skimmer works fine, I am getting a beachball for a good 3 seconds when hitting the space bar ( and far longer if I hit J (play backwards)). This happens after trashing prefs and logging in as another bare bones user.
I cannot be sure if the problems are interrelated but the other project was canon eos and chroma (which, hitherto, I thought was the problem...)
Apologies for spelling, grammar and typos. I am writing on my wife's ipad, somewhere in the London night.

I'm getting that too, only on playback. Intermittent but it still happens frequently. The Audio itself is WAV files, while the video is h264 from Canon 7D.

Same here - I noticed it for the first time yesterday afternoon, and I believe I did a Mountain Lion update just before...maybe it's something to do with that?

Hmm Maybe there is a Mountain Lion issue. I'm completely stumped.
The problem is not re-producing today.
Obviously I did a reboot etc yesterday, which did not make the prob go away.
Can I ask if anyone is using Parralels desktop by any chance? A real long shot.

I have the same thing every now and then... Usually if I stop playing and move the play head back 5-10 seconds and play again it is fine and goes away... I don't remember this happening in 10.0.7 though...

I wish I could just move it back 5-10secs for it to work.
Problem has started again, after I came back from a bite to eat... Now the audio is crackling as well.
I'm trying to do L-cuts and this is making it near impossible.
It's not impossible that the prob started in 10.0.8 but I don't think so. When was it released again?

Apparently I was having a different issue. The problem I was having was a simple "drop out" that happened every once and a while. Like a video dropped frame. Typically a music track. But it always resolves itself by stopping and starting playback again.

I'm having audio dropouts too. FCPX 10.0.9 on OSX 10.8.4, MacBook Pro 2.9 GHz i7, 8 GB of RAM.
It only occurs with Synchronized Clips, where I've synchronized an audio and a video clip. All other audio works just fine. The dropout sometimes occur when I play back in the timeline, and sometimes not. But it invariably occurs at the same spot when I bring up the full screen to watch, and when I export/share the file. Never had this happen before, and I've used exactly the same equipment to do several other videos.
Suggestions?

It's a known issue that happens intermittently.
Creating a new Project (not a Duplicate one) and copy/pasting the content of the problematic Project into the new one seems to solve the problem most of the times. I have been told Apple is working on it.
P.S. do not forget to post a bug report every time this happens.
