I was sent MTS files off of a card on Blue-Ray discs. I'm not able to import them in FCPX like an SD card (not sure why). I've tried using Toast, as I have in the past, but everything keeps coming out green or blue or I've gotten error -50 messages on every file. The footage is h.264 1080p and I can't figure out a way to may these files usable.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm wondering: does Toast need the map stucture to work the the MTS? Recently I got MTS of an AVCHD. Normally I would use FCP to import, but as I got a error on the map structure (although nothing seemed to be mising), I used Toast.

I tried Toast again before I called it a night and the files it converted seem to work. I must of had a setting wrong on my initial tries. I'd use this method in the past and it's worked before...strange. Thanks guys!

I was dealing with this exact problem about a week ago. One of my clients is in the gaming industry and had recorded footage of his Playstation 3 using a Hauppage HD PVR. The files created were MTS or MT2S files and they don't play well with FCPX. Actually, they simply don't import to FCPX.
I spent hours trying to find a solution to properly convert the footage without having some noticeable loss in quality. When looking online, I only found these silly video converters that were completely inflexible and seemed like they were marketed to senior citizens. but I digress.
Now I'm left with a slew of applications installed on my OS, all of which are bundled in a "Conversion Software" folder. I can't tell you which one I used, only because I don't remember which one actually got the job done. There were at least 5-8 different applications. From what I do remember, however, is that it could be one of the two:
Adapter (logo is a reptile)
Free MTS MT2S Converter (logo is an ugly red film strip with orange arrows)
I believe you can find them either in the App store or with a simple Google Search. They were both free so give them a shot. I know it isn't the 100% answer you were looking for but hopefully it'll get your job done.

Create a folder and put all MTS files into it. "AVCCAM Restorer" restores the AVCDH folder from the stream files in the specified directory.

You should try 5DtoRGB Lite.... it's a freware and works perfectly. I'm using this app on daily basis.
