Are the Backround Generators busted in 10.0.8???

a friend and i just did a little test whith using the curtain generator. while doing it i noticed that there is no actual video of a curtain. it was just black. i jumped to the generator settings and the color was black on default. weird but no biggy i thought. lets change it to red... wait, it's still black :huh:

same thing happens with the blobs generator

my buddy's experienced the same problem on his system.

are we doing something wrong or do we have new bug?

No problem with any generators here including curtain and blobs

Do you see the color on the thumbnail in the generator browser?

Working fine here.

no... it goes black right away. i know this wasn't in v10.0.7

Nor is it in 10.0.8 on my system either. Is it black when you open the generators browser or when you skim? Is that what you mean by close black right away?

Did you try reinstalling the app?

a little update on the problem

on another board someone suggested that the problem comes from the sony xdcam plugin. i'll uninstalled and see if that helped. if not, i'm going fully reinstall fcpx.

will report later how things worked out

tom, the curtain icon icon without skimming is just normal. but when i skim over it, with selected footage in the timeline, it goes black.

it was indeed the xdcam plugin. after i removed it, everything went back to normal.

here is the path, in case anyone else has a problem.

/library/application support/proapps/mio/radplugins/XDCAMFormat.RADPlug*

In browsing various forums, including this one, I have never heard of anyone who solved their problem by re-installing FCPX. I know it's often suggested, but it seems there is always a bad plugin, hardware issue or some preference file corrupted that is the culprit. I've never heard anyone report back that the reinstall solved the problem, but I have heard many times that re-installing did not help. FWIW.

I've known several times reinstalling fixed major issues. Just FYI, it can in fact help as a last resort, and does work sometimes.
