Best External Drive for FCPX Editing

I'm currently using WD USB 2.0/3.0 drives for Editing. (I also use the same models for backup of final exported projects, along with Cloud hosting) I use these drives for easy of use, WD is reliable, and because they're cheap.

But for an upcoming project (a series of web videos, somewhere in the ballpark of a few hundred 3-4 minutes pieces) I'd like to update my drives to a more professional standard. As in any drive I'm looking for speed, reliability and affordability.

What do people think is the best set-up for Editing and backup in FCPX? What do people think Apple would suggest?

Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

T'bolt is best.
For what you're doing, USB 3.0 (if your Mac is true USB 3.0) would be fine.
Anything works as a backup, but USB 2.0 will take forever.
I have an article about backups.

Hi, I use the Promise Pegasus R4 and are very happy whit that solution so far. I went whit the 4x1TB solution for about €900/$1100 or so ( store.apple.com/us/product/H5184VC/A/pro...tb-4x1tb-raid-system ). It works perfect, but there is some noice so its best to have inside a cabinets or so under the desk. Its running Raid5, so there is some good speed and some level of "backup" if one disk goes #$##$%&%/%(/

Depends on what mac you have, if you have a 2012 macbook pro or imac usb3.0 is cheaper than thunderbolt and plenty fast. If you have a mac pro than esata, USB3, miniSAS with a PCIe card to external drive.

You left a "0" out of the USA price. It is right at $1100.00. I wish it was only $110.00
