Hey guys,

new to fcp here, Im putting together a project about 2 hours long of random hd clips. I have rendered them all to settings for youtube 720p, by doing this it has used up about 80GB in space on my hdd, i am now ready to send it to compressor and 'bounce' the project, and i dont have much space on my hdd left. (about 30gb)

How much more space will i likely need? Will the project need to render more, or is that is and it just 'bounces' the whole project?

Another question i have is, say i am using logic pro i can select all unused files cut from other clips or just not being used in teh project and delete them to save space, does fcp have that option too?

Thanks

You need more drive space. Get another fast drive. No, FCP has no consolidate function exactly like that. You can duplicate with only used clips, but you cannot trim clips.

First, if you're going to Compressor you should not first compress inside FCP. You should export a master file or you should use Compressor settings from inside FCP (not the Send to Compressor function).

From inside FCP you'll have to move unused events and projects to another drive or copy what you're working with onto a larger drive. Or use a separate drive for the export file and for the Compressor output.
