Changing the frame rate from 50 FPS to 25 FPS was created by keithwhite
I have a 60 minute 1080p documentary set at 50 FPS which I need to change down to 25 FPS so it can run on a smart TV which cannot handle 50 FPS.
What is the best way to do this?
And is there a noticeable difference in quality between the two frame rates?

Project Library, highlight the Project, go to the Inspector, to the Properties section, bottom right is a button with the icon of a wrench. That opens the settings you need to change for the Project.
You may want to duplicate the Project first.

Thanks for this. Unfortunately the only thing you can't change in the project inspector is the frame rate
I had a trailer version of the program which I copied into a new project with the frame rate set at 25 FPS and that worked okay so that's probably what I shall have to do with the full version.

… or create a Compressor Preset with 25fps … if you use Compressor.
… or export a Master file and use the free tool Mpeg Streamclip to 'convert' to 25fps …

… or export a Master file and use QuicktimePro7 to 'convert' to 25fps …

I think what you did was probably the quickest, easiest way to do that.

I agree his method works fast. Also, as in every FCP version once a clip is in the timeline and a project timebase is established, it cannot be changed.

i dont know if it is still interesting, but there is a freaky easy way.... when you export your movie just do not click in the export settings for computers, but for apple devices and at the left bottom of the window you can see the frame rate switch from 50 to 25
i did this several times and it worked good for me! the original file stays in 50 but the export has 25.
hope this helpes anybody!
