Another Multicam Query

Hi guys,

I've been working through a big stack of about 100 tapes I had from the mid 00s, all band footage at various gigs and trying to edit them up to put online for other people. For gigs with a single angle, I've taken pretty quickly to FCPX and can fly around these projects in minutes (EQing some of the audio, basic transitions to cut out any downtime etc) but having more complications when it comes to the multicam clips.

From reading other posts here, I realised that if I want to use a blend of both audio tracks from a 2 cam mix (one is usually a mic and one is usually a mono desk feed) then before I do the multicam I need to synchronise the clips and use that output as my audio.

So I've done this, and in my multicam clip I now have my PD150 shot, my TRV950 shot and the sync clip which I've locked the audio to. However, I'm having issues when it comes to editing this audio. I worked on it a bit before I made the multicam (by opening the Sync clip in the timeline and doing my EQ/Level adjustments there) but this didn't seem to come through.

It now seems if I want to make adjustments I need to do the following:

Drag the multicam clip to the timeline
Right click the multicam clip and open the angle editor
Right click the sync clip and open this in the timeline
Make adjustments

However, something doesn't seem to be right - if I kill one of the channels completely in this view then go back to the original timeline - silence. But if I bring it up it sounds like I'm getting some kind of mix between the two, but not quite 100%. Am I missing something in one of the audio checkboxes perhaps?

It's a little confusing as I'm not completely versed in FCPX yet, but it's one of those things I'm sure will make complete sense once I get my head around it! Cheers
