I am looking for a way to review AND add markers outside of FCPX and afterwards import a FCPXML file into FCPX and have this correspond with the original video clip.
Dream scenario would be like this: I open up a clip in QuickTime, set markers and add text to these, save an XML file and import it into FCPX. Voila: my markers and text are "imbedded" in the clip.
Does a tool like this exist at all?

Thanks

Why not do the exact same thing in the Event Browser? What is the need to go out to a different app for that?

BEN: Bacause I am trying to establish a workflow where I can access a proxy of the video file, download it from an ftp server and just send the XML to an editor.

QuickTime Player doesn't create markers. I've not tested creating markers in Compressor and then sending to FCP X, but I'll have to look at that one day.

I don't know of any simple "player" that creates markers and exports FCPXML.

"Lumberjack" is a product that will soon be released, that will do this and much more. It won't be cheap.

You could try QT NoteTaker, is old and haven't been updated since 2006 but does the basic stuff not the "dreamed" that you like.

There is an old post about a "similar" request, here .

But I think BenB is right here, doing it inside FCPx would be better. If you have a copy of FCPx in your computer, you could download the proxy video, import to FCPx, add notes, favorites, etc and send the event file from the finder to the editor. (I'm not totally sure if this is the exact procedure, BenB knows a lot more about if this is right).
