Adding Keywords WHILE importing footage? was created by bradywurtz
Just wanted to check if there is a way to add keywords to certain clips while importing. I shoot in AVCHD format, so when i import, I need to transcode my footage from my SDHC card. When I go to File Import Media, I go to my card, then I can see every one of my clips. I can select and choose which ones I want to import.
BUT, is there a way, during this part of the process, to assign specific keywords to certain clips on my card before I actually click the 'import' button to bring them in? That way, when they're done transcoding and importing, I'll have them all organized in keywords?
It's really not that necessary I guess, I just think it'll save me time so I don't have to import them first, THEN keyword them all

Unfortunately not. Good feature request along with assigning roles on import.

I agree. I wanted the same feature for stills. I can't think it would be a hard feature to add. I sent feedback, but the more voices the better!

I'll jump on that band wagon and send some feedback for this as well. All time-savers should be congruent with Apple's efficiency and easiness motif.

Final Cut Pro -> Provide Final Cut Pro Feedback -> Then select Enhancement Request and fill out the rest of the form as indicated.

The only current workaround is to organize your clips into folder, those folders being named appropriately. Then on import use the function that uses the folder names as keywords. But a keyword field in the import window would be great.
