Is it possible to re-join the video and audio components of a clip once they've been separated?

Only by making them a compound clip.

You could match back to the original clip in the event and drop it into the timeline. Then copy and paste any attributes as necessary from the broken clip and then delete the broken clip.

Is there a function in fcpx where you can "match back" to an original clip? Or is it more of a manual matching you're referring to?
