FCP X "share to Vimeo" won't accept log in was created by grailz
I had a problem with logging into my Vimeo account using FCP X's 'share to Vimeo' command but was able to find the solution and wanted to post it here.
Final Cut Pro X wouldn't accept my log-in credentials even though I copy and pasted them verbatim.
I tried typing them in by hand. Bupkiss
Finally after doing a few searches, I came upon the solution: apparently FCP X doesn't deal well with special characters in the log in dialogue box. Things like &+% and the like are rejected even if they are used in the actual password stored on Vimeo. Quite annoying as those symbols help to make for a somewhat stronger password.
I wound up changing my password in order to make it conform with what FCP X was looking for.
Obviously this is going on the FCP X feedback page.

This came up once before. The suggestion then was to just export your project as a self contained movie file (I think Vimeo accepts mp4) to your desktop. Next, simply log in with your browser the way you usually would, then upload your file that way.
It might be a bug, in which case Apple has probably heard about it & may address it in the next update. Just to be sure you can send them a note.
In the mean time, the work-around does the job.
