Viewer window not working correctly?

The viewer window shows up blank, even though the clip is being played.
Exporting it left me with a single frame through out the entire clip.

Any suggestions?

Is that a pre-005 version?

I'm not sure. It just says Final Cut Pro 10.0

If you go to the Final Cut Pro menu, "About Final Cut Pro", it should read below the app's name, "Version 10.0.x". There will be a third number. May be time to run an update, although that is not a good idea to do mid-project.

Nope :/

Anyway, it seems to be a problem with either png files or speeding the clip up.

That screen shot is not right. I'd reinstall. This is a legal copy, correct?

What about it isn't right?
I'll reinstall now, yes I bought it Mid-Late 2011.
I've never updated it before, so I'll do so now.

There's no third decimal place in the splash screen. That's not right.

I'm pretty sure that's how it was when first released. Don't ever remember seeing "10.0.0"

As to the original question could it be that the OP has chosen to view the Alpha channel only?

Yes, I was going to buy a previous version, but decided to wait until FCPX was released, which was just 10.0, as long as I can remember it ever being.

I read somewhere that Alpha Channels will help display png images, which it did, somewhat. Would the alpha channels interfere with the display?

If you have chosen to view the alpha channel only then this would explain your white screen. Just go back to normal viewing.

Oh and upgrade to 10.0.7 your missing out on tonnes of cool new stuff!

I actually worked with a version 001 a few days ago on someone's laptop. It had three digits, 10.0.0. That's why I made the comment.

But yes, change the Viewer menu to show All channels.

And yes, update.

I've just updated, you're definitely right. This works great and has lots of cool stuff.

I guess diverging from my original question, what you you suggest for displaying .png photos?

Make sure they are RGB, 8-bit and closer to the frame size of your project timeline. That's about it.
