GOD I wish the job I'm working on now was on FCP X. It has tonnes of GoPro footage and FCP 7 hates hates hates it! It was shot "set and forget" so transcoding is just not an option because we only have 40TB of storage for this job. (I'm not kidding)
I really wish Apple would just do an Old Yeller on FCP 7, I don't think I can stand it any longer.
Just pushed the button on a GoPro Hero 3+ myself after reading this.
Now to fire up the motorcycle...

Some observations:
When converting GoPro footage to Cineform, remember that you need to have the Cineform codec installed on any machine used for editing.
Editing and handling GoPro 1080p 50fps footage is very smooth on a late 2013 iMac. No need for optimizing media/converting to ProRes.
If you download this Lock&Load package there is a free fisheye remover hidden in there:
www.coremelt.com/products/lock-and-load-x.html
And for handling Protune inside FCPX i can recommend the following plugin:
www.crumplepop.com/hdrforgopro/

I'll be comparing the fisheye remover in GP Studio to Lock & Load this weekend. But ingesting a ProRes and the Lock & Load work perfectly fine for me. Not sure why I'd do anything otherwise.

This Cineform app that is being mentioned...is that the free GoPro Studio app? That is the one that I have. Of course I could be doing it wrong, but it comes out nasty looking.
