How to side-chain compress / gate effect with audio and motions

Hi everyone!

I have an idea for a scene that I want to do and I have an idea for how that potentially could be done. The idea is to have some guy staring out a window, I film a close up of the eyes, then where he is looking, that is, out the window, and it's pitch black outside. I'm looking for an ambient/dreaming feeling, so audio is almost completely gone at this moment. Then - a strobe of light, that is, a series of high frequency flashing white light, lights up the darkness, and to make this sudden flash more intense, I want each and every flash to correspond to some short, hard, percussive click.

When I make music I use a side-chaining effect with a gate as a trigger to let a signal from a channel flow through when triggered. That probably only makes sense to those who are familiar with audio and side-chaining, but I'm basically looking for a way to let the strobes of light trigger an audio track.

I appreciate all tips and advices :)

Regards,

Anton

Do it in Motion, there is an audio parameter behavior that is really nice.

Maybe a good example of why some of us want LogicPro integration with FCPX.
SoundTrackPro had side chaining if memory serves me.

Not like what the OP is asking, that's not really audio and midi side chaining like in Logic, which is audio only, and STP had no side chaining, really.

Again, the solution that will act like side chaining would be the Audio parameter behavior in Motion. You'd drop in your audio percussion first, then go into Motion and have the audio trigger off the visual effect.

Or you'll have to do your visual effects, and "spot" the percussion effects to the audio manually.
