Free plugins are crashing my Mac was created by AJP
Hello all,
I haven't been able to find too much about this ANYWHERE except one other forum that suggested some of these free plugins are actually crashing FCPX
Running a MacBook Pro Late 2008 2.4Ghz intel dore duo 8gb RAM, with Mountain Lion and have downloaded a BUNCH of plugins (that are GREAT!) from this forum. All of the sudden FCPX wouldn't even open. It immediately goes to the spinning wheel of death. When you force quit, it won't reopen, you can't restart, you can't eject external drives, you basically can't do ANYTHING without performing a hard restart.
So, after searching everywhere for some kind of answer a forum suggested dumping some of the free plugins. I moved the entire folder and instantly I am 100% BACK!!!
As much as I am excited to be back up and running I am curious if anyone knows anything about this and/or has had similar experience? Maybe there are a couple known plugins that are corrupt? As I mentioned the plugins I have gotten here are truly great and I would love to run them but if they (or one of them) is crashing my whole system I obviously can't use them. I guess I am just asking before I start installing them one by one to try and figure out which one is the bad apple. Any advice is appreciated!
Also, I believe I have tried EVERYTHING else! At least everything that this article suggested along with reformatting external drives, reinstalling OS, I mean I did it all and the only thing that worked was removing the plugins.

Use the "divide and conquer" method mentioned with the free plug-ins themselves to see if you can isolate the problematic plug-in or plugs.

Dont be greedy!
Download 1 plug-in at a time. Download the plug-ins as and when you need them.
That way, if you have a problem after downloading a plug-in, you will know exactly what it was that caused the problem, and can delete it. And then report the problem here!

Thanks everyone!
Will do, I will start adding them back in one at a time and if I find the culprit I will post up.

Well, trashing the plugins worked for about a day....
Now I am back to a useless piece of software that is collecting dust.
Does ANYONE have ANY ideas what would be causing this that hasn't already been mentioned in the article I posted previously?
Or has ANYONE experienced the same problem?
I have been using FCP since 5 and always really like it, but ever since going to X I have had problems. It's never ran like it should. Is there something obvious I am missing here? I listed my Mac's specs so maybe I just don't have a fast enough computer? Who knows, I am getting ready to throw in the towel and use adobe.

Have you tried trashing the preferences? I use Preference Manager and it seems to help sometimes.

Thanks but as I mentioned above I have tried everything in this article with NO luck
www.premiumbeat.com/blog/troubleshooting...corruption-problems/
What concerns me the most is that I can't even find anyone with the same problem. What makes my issues different is that once FCPX crashes it crashes the WHOLE computer, the only way to get it back up is a hard restart.
I am desperate at this point....

Only last thing I can think of is get "FCS Remover" from Digital Rebellion (dot com) to 100% remove all trace of FCP X. But do NOT check the "Content" option. Reinstall. I've seen that work on one or two machines.
Other than than, take that laptop in to an Apple store to be checked out. They do diagnostics for free. I have a 2007 running ML Server and FCP X just fine.
Last question, how much RAM installed?
And be sure you are NOT putting Projects and Events on the internal drive. What are your drive specs? RPM, capacity, free space, connection?
