Hi everyone,

I'm finding it impossible to migrate my project from my desktop computer to my laptop.

I am not sure what I should be looking into. All my rushes are on an external HD with the .fpc event.

Could you let me know what I should be doing?

Many thanks!

There are several ways of doing this, and which you choose depends on whether FCPX will ever need both HDDs online at the same time.

1) The easiest, but least recommended way (which we use a lot ;)). Quit FCPX, then simply copy the entire Event and Projects folders to your main computer. Disconnect the external drive and you're good to go. If you need to update back and forth then make sure FCPX is NOT running and copy the database files (only) back to your external drive as needed.

OR

2) With FCPX running, mount your external drive and tell FCPX to duplicate the event to your local HDDs. This copies all the media AND assigns a unique ID to the copied event so that you can still have your external HDD connected and the two events won't conflict. You then need to also duplicate your projects.

Check out section 5 from page 50 in the user manual (10.0.7). It's all there!
