Oh the joys of a new camera.
Have been using the Sony NEX-FS100 for a long while now, changed my attitude to AVCHD and I've become quite a fan with FCPX.
But I've now switched to the Canon C100 - enjoying its image quality and ergonomics, soon managed to tame its quirky PSF mode within FCPX. However, there's one issue that is bugging me. Wondered if anyone else has experienced this, maybe with a different camera, or whether it's just a Canon thing - or indeed my own setup.
I insert an SDHC card from the FS100 - AVCHD - and lets say it's 32GB and it's almost full with about 400 clips on it. From insertion, through the 'ghost of a card' with the spinning belly-button, to 'solid card' with the ability to start the import, we're talking seconds.
If I do the same thing with a C100 card - same scenario, 32GB, ~400 clips, from insertion to the ability to view the clips is over 9 minutes. That's 7 minutes from card insertion to the end of the spinner, plus 2 minutes of 'preparing clips to import'.
So here's another bit of info: you can put an FS100 formatted and 'used' card in a C100 and vice versa, and so long as both are set to the same standard, the two are interchangeable. Yet... if I take an FS100 formatted card and put it into the C100, shoot stuff on it, then import that into FCP, things work a lot smoother. So other than having a $6k card formatter handy, any ideas what could be slowing FCPX down over C100 footage?
Or if anyone else experiences the same issues with C100 footage?

Have you checked to see how each card is formatted? FAT32 vs ExFat etc may contribute to how the files are being recorded and thus how the files are brought in to FCPX.

I formatted the cards in camera. They are in FAT32.

OK - and the cards from the Sony are also FAT32?
If you format them to FAT32 in the Mac does it have the same impact on speed of import?

Let me clear something first. No cards from Sony.
I only have a Canon C100.
I didn't tried that. Must do that
It also depends on how full the card is. the more data it has the more it takes to load up in fcpx.

Sorry, I read this as you had an FS100 also.
