Sorry about the rookie question, but I'm just now making the transition to FCPX.

How do I key frame color correction, exposure and saturation in FCPX?

I've tried to view video animation in the TL but FCP will not let me add key frames to the color track. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Mike

Sadly you are not doing anything wrong. The only way to do it with the built in tools is to blade the clip and then add a cross dissolve.
Hopefully Apple has this on it's to do list.

I don't sorry. 99% of the time I don't need to keyframe my corrections for that 1% I just blade and dissolve.

Don't want to purchase a plugin as I'm sure Apple will address this obviously lacking feature.

Not plugins, but what about Resolve or Motion?

If you need to do it "today":

Resolve is an option.

Plugins like Nattress Levels & Curves, or others will do the trick.

If you need better mask options, SliceX.

Actually If you get the wvl-ColourGrade.v2 you can Key frame your color. I havent check into what extent you can color correct with it. but if you want to fade to a BW or boost and cut. you can use it that way.

Sorry, I'm a bit slow, had no idea what you were talking about. Until I did a search, guess what? It's right here, on our beloved site... and free!
