How do I apply image stabilization to a multi-cam clip?

It's really annoying that when I go to stabilize a multi-cam clip there is no option to do so.

Right click (control click) the multi clip select open in angle editor, then you stabilize each clip that needs it in the angle timeline.

I feel your pain. I had reason to go back and find 23 different places in a multicam that needed stabilisation (filmed in a marquee with wobbly floor!!!) and it was a major PITA!

With Premiere Pro it was a s easy as dropping the warp stabiliser on the tiny section in the final edit, but alas FCPX won't allow it.

PLEASE - fill in a feature request for this so I'm not the only one!

The alternative is that I'd like the angle editor to be able to show which clip has been selected for the final cut, maybe by darkening the bits not selected so that it's easy to find the selected angles/clips.

While it's fairly easy to find the right place if all the time code matches, once a multicam edit has been cut (tightening the edit) or copied to embed in another project, the time code no longer works.

Major PITA!

Are you blading the area within the angle editor, selecting just that section (within the angle editor) and stabilising that?

Not the Angle Viewer, open in the Angle Editor, you can blade and stabilize there.

Sorry I meant the angle editor. I right click then open in angle editor, then I blade a section of the clip and highlight it and into my inspector and there's no option to stabilize.

I've seen this before too and never found a way to re-enable it.

What I had to do was copy that part of the clip from the angle viewer on to the 'track' above in the edit and apply it there. Another time I had to export that section to a master file, re-import it, drop it on top (sync it of course ;)) and then stabilise the new clip.

It's a pain, but worth it in the end.

you can try and right click the original clip in the event browser and select analyze and fix, sometimes this brings back the options for stabilize

Still no luck. There has to be an easier way.. Does anyone else run into this problem?

Please, file a BUG REPORT from the menu in FCPX.

The more people complain, the more chance there will be of getting a fix.

My workaround:

1. On your main timeline, shift+f to locate the clip in the event browser, this will highlight your clip
2. Cmd+1 to go to event browser window, look at time code & remember it.
3. Double clip the multicam clip in the event browser to open it in Angle Editor.
4. Once in Angle Editor, press Control+P to type in the remembered time code.
5. Blade that section of the clip, then apply stabilization.

Works fast when you get used to it, along with keyboard shortcuts.

I'll make a screen flow video of this later.
