The time draws nearer? MacPro Discontinued 1 March in Europe
That's a real worry.

simonpwood wrote: Incidentally; I often get slight electric shocks from my MacBook Pro - does no one else ever experience that? Sometimes I can feel small vibrations if my hand is on the outside of the case, sometimes actual light shocks (often with external drives and things like that attached).
I used to think it was an earthing issue in my house, except I have experienced the same issue in different locations.
Yeah I have received shocks many times, but I have noticed not with the MacBook Pro Retina or the good old looking Titanium Powerbook.
Maybe cause everything is now cheaply plastic in glued inside.
Apple computers case is nice conductor, so doesn't surprise.
As for the Topic nothing to sweet about. The real question is will there be successor... with this new Law maybe it is even going to take more time to be released?

verstaerker wrote: i also have sometimes electrical shocks from my MBP .... it depends on the shoes i'm wearing
My house has some sort of minor grounding issue that causes electrical problems from time to time. I haven't found anyone (who I can afford to pay) that can fix it. When it's dry out, I can get shocked by touching almost anything metal, filing cabinets are the worst.
My solution: I don't wear shoes in the house any more. Sock are fine, no shoes. Also if you happen to have one of the those hard plastic office chair mats in your home or office so your office chair can roll more easily, they are the worst for generating static electricity.
One more thing, because I seem to be much more susceptible to static electricity than my family or anyone else I know, I googled it once and found that this is not uncommon. Some people are just more sensitive to static electricity. It doesn't appear that anyone knows why, but there are many forum posts out there about people like me complaining about awful shocks.
Good luck,
Dave

Apple apparently communicated this to a French retailer impacted by the discontinuation of the MacPro sales in the EU.
This has an awkward English translation.

This has the French.

In this case the French retailer is reporting direct communication. In tern, their report is indirect to the public. It's one thing if someone "spied a clue" subject to misinterpretation (rumor). That's different than a retailer reporting they've received direct communication.
Yes, it's always possible the retailer is lying or misunderstood the communication. I'd rank this higher than "rumor" though.
CNET reporting... Apple declined to comment.

Everything other than "a new MacPro is coming" is totally rumour because any one who knows exactly 'what' is coming is going to be under such tight NDA that they simply can't tell you.
Any one who tells you doesn't really know.

And then his email was followed up by Apple PR with David Pogue of NYT.
This is potentially new information, if true. Though it is a wrinkle in the logic that we wouldn't see a new machine until the later half of the year, when Intel is due to release the Ivy Bride E chips that would allow for USB3 and Thunderbolt integration.

BenB wrote: Actually Tim Cook himself said in a public interview a new Mac Pro was coming in 2013.
But I don't think the reseller was supposed to make public the spring timeframe. It seems some articles are mention Apple's response as a decline to comment or, in one case, they referred back to Cook's comment (which only mentions the year).

Gene asked Jim, "New MacPro by Spring?"
Jim replied, "Yeah, I would imagine so."
