Colouring Trails

Hello all.

I'm trying to achieve this effect:

I've used a well lit green screen, so keying is no issue, and I know trails will get me near enough, but I'd like to add colour to them.

Any help would be massively appreciated.

Many thanks.

Hehe... back in the hippy days LSD people used to refer to those as traces.

At first glance I thought he'd overlayed another duplicate of the shot, tinted it & keyframed a slight reduction in speed. But that would be ridiculously complicated when a simple plugin could do all the work for you...

This plugin works inside FCPX to create particles of different colors. You can assign their source to be the image itself (which is what your video features). Different shots, different colors. Next adjust the life (duration), direction & colors of the trailing glows.

As your production progresses, you could vary some of those timing aspects to up interest levels.

I think the Boris Continuum Complete Time Filters also do something like that.
Look at Posterize Time, Temporal Blur, Trails.
