NAB 2013- Post Production World FCPX Certification Training was created by Disproportionate Pictures
I guess this is mostly directed at the trainers out there. I'm planning on attending NAB this year and was thinking of doing the 2-day FCPX certification course. Can anyone give any insight on what it is, what it involves, and what you come away with for this course?
Even if I've been using the software regularly since March, I think there's probably some things I can learn.

Yeah, the Future Media Concepts training. It's being run by Sean Casella.
Haven't found a more detailed link yet. Just Certification prep and exam.

OK, then it must be Apple certified training. It is normally a 3 day course, but they do a 2 day version at NAB. The book is from Peachpit Press, "Apple Pro Training Series: Final Cut Pro X". Best price is on Amazon.com. Wait until February 20th, though. The 2nd edition based on 10.0.6 is released then. I'll assume the 10.0.6 version of the test will be online shortly after that. The current book/test are FCPX 10.0.3.
If you plan to take the test there, I'd strongly not rely on only 2 days to pass it. It is a tough test. Drop me an email (in my profile) and I'll send you some practice questions I did for my students. It's only a few questions, and only gives an idea of what sort of detail you need to know for the pro user exam. Personally I think the practice questions in the book lead you to think the exam will be much easier than it really is.
There are links here to download the "Exam Prep Guide", which is nothing more than the questions from the book in a PDF. I'd suggest downloading it now, and right away start going through the questions to get a feel for how much you may or may not be ready for the exam.

Get that book before hand, and start getting familiar with it. The test is tough. If you fail it, you have to wait one week, and pay for another test.
That book is the test, the test is that book, literally. You need to know the book's terminology and ways of doing things. And the current book/test is pretty out of date, but still good. You'll pick up a few things you may not be aware of.
NAB, I'm hoping I can make it this year. Disney Land for media production, in Vegas which is adult Disney Land for those of us warped enough to do media production for a living. What an exciting time it is! Man, I am SO hoping I can schedule it this year.
Any questions about the book, the test, just let me know.

One more thing. The book also comes as an eBook, which I love. If you get the eBook, the last chapter has the URL where you can download the lesson files. They're on a DVD with the "dead tree" (I love that term LOL) version of the book. Plan on a 45 minute to hour plus download, though.

Do they sell it just as an eBook? Seems silly in this day and age and especially that FCP X gets major revisions every few months that you would be stuck with an out of date hard copy.
I've often wondered why Apple doesn't "eat it's own dog food" and produce training manuals with iBooks author.

Apple is not a book publisher. Peachpit handles that for them. But yes, FCP X changes so fast, so often, this is a very unique situation. I know from my classes most people do not want eBooks, they want paper.
