Weird problem in the import-dialogue

When I open the import-dialogue the desktop and user locations (which are under favorites by default) have a spinning icon, like they were loading. ut they never finish loading and I can´t select them either. I can get to the desktop through the normal paths, but these two favoirtes are constantly spinning.

Anyone seen this?

Never seen that before. What are your hardware specs, OS version?

Trash your Preferences, then give it a try... do back them up just in case.

User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.FinalCut.plist

User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.FinalCut.LSSharedFileList.plist
And for Lion also delete
User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.FinalCut.plist.lockfile

Or get Preference Manager 3.0 from Digital Rebellion.

bumping this. still didn´t get a fix for this issue.
trashed prefs, re-installed FCPX (well....came even an update). On one machine I have this problem and it seems to be an issue in the OSX. But I have no other program complaining on this Macbook. Weird...

Try creating a new user on the problem machine.

Ok, it works all fine in the guest-user.
But my main-user still has this spinning icon on Desktop and "user".
Any ideas?

It would appear that something is corrupt within your main account. If you cannot isolate the preference file or application that is the culprit, you may have to delete that account and re-establish a new user.

Try operating as the new user and getting your programs to work with that account prior to deleting your current main account. Maybe also try repairing permissions with your main account on all drives and doing some routine maintenance on the computer.

I've gone through all the same steps and also cannot figure out how to fix it... but do not want to have to rebuild my entire account to do it. Anyone else have any luck?

If it is a user account issue, number 6 in this document may help.

Thanks for the suggestion.... but unfortunately didn't help.

While this is a small thing... it's pretty annoying.

When your system shows issues that are solved by creating a new user, this is a clear indication that your current user directory is corrupted. Either you do something about it or you live with the issues caused by the corrupt account, there is no other solution.

If the corrupted account is not too damaged and the issues are strictly in the user directory you can try to rebuild the user account. If the corrupted account is the only admin account on the computer this will also require a couple of entries in Terminal. But the whole procedure is fairly easy and it has helped a couple of users on this forum before. Just follow these steps: www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-rebuild-a-user-account-in-os-x/

If you don't want to do this, or if the procedure above does not solve the problems, your only alternative is to create a completely new admin account. As you cannot migrate any existing settings from the current to the new account (because this would also migrate the corruptions) you will need to create this new account from the ground up.

Creating a new admin account can take some time, so you might consider if it would not be better to just wipe your system drive clean and do a fresh install of your OS. This is absolutely the best way to make your system lean and clean again.
