Firstly, I'd like to apologise in case I have posted this in the wrong section, or if this has already been answered recently. I'm completely new to these forums and I appreciate any help you could give me.

I want to purchase a Macbook/Macbook Pro, purely to use FCP. I'm a little lost at which macbook would be the best one to buy, and what extra hardware i might need to buy to use FCP X at a good speed. This will be my first mac/macbook ever so i'm still trying to learn about everything.

I have used other video editors in the past, and have always been burdened by very slow and laggy edditors when using large files. I don't want to experience this problem again!

I have found a Macbook Pro 15" on ebay at a good price, I will post the specs below. Would this macbook be a good choice for using FCP?
Also, would I have to invest in more RAM etc.

Apple MacBook Pro 15.4"

Processor Type: Intel Core 2 Duo

Processor Speed: 2.40 GHz

Memory: 4 GB

Hard Drive Capacity: 640 GB

Operating System: Apple Mac OS X 10.7, Lion

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me :)

RAM is absolute minimum. You should have external drive for projects and events. And just download trial version and see for your self.

Check that the video card is qualified for FCP. What card is it BTW?
