perhaps the topic is outside this forum, but I will try anyway

have just set up a new machine, and would use my QT7 pro to do some exports, but I don't get the option to export in H264 as on my other machines
I used to find the folder with plugin/codec and just copy that to the new machine, but now I cant find them
anyone know the location of that folder ?
thanks

In OSX 10.8.2 with Quicktime 7.6.6 Pro installed in Applications/Utilities folder
File/Export
Quicktime to Movie
Options then Settings then Compression Type and select H.264 from pulldown.
You don't get that?
H.264 .mov isn't a component you should have to add.

The location of the Library/Quicktime
components hasn't changed. That you can't find it and don't have H.264 causes me to question what happened to your OS install assuming you are describing this accurately.

In Quicktime 7 you MUST select File Format MP4. I just noticed you have MP4 (ISMA) selected which is an older spec.

MPEG4 ISMA is version 1 spec Simple and Advanced Simple Profile for example
H.264 is version 2 spec.

Oh crap y'all, just make H.264 .mov files and if someone complains, laugh hysterically and walk away...

Yeah, and you can always make the .mov file and change the extension to .mp4. Works perfectly. I do this all the time for a few clients that insist on mp4 deliverables. But, life would be easier if everyone owned a MAC :woohoo:
