Some beautiful effects, there's no denying it. However, with economies tightening, filmmakers will increasingly be looking for deals. Since many of these effects are found in separate plugs, even some freebies offered here, the hefty price tag is problematic. That said, we greatly appreciate Boris making their generous offers of free trials & budget priced segmented packages.

Upgrade price shows as $295

If it was $99.5 instead of $995 how many here would buy a copy?
I don't think anyone is going to spend more than 3 times what the host application costs for a plugin.

They do have a lot of very cool tools that I don't see anywhere else. Built in motion tracking for one.
That they aren't discounting the upgrade price does bother me. 40% discount for new purchases but nothing beyond the normal upgrade price for current owners.
One big difference between NoiseIndustries FXFactory is that it's a "modular" approach with third parties building new FX for it.
It might be interesting for someone to do a comparative review of the plugin collections.
FXFactory $399
CoreMelt $199
Saphire Edge $299
BCC $995
Interesting that FXFactory and CoreMelt have additional plugins for sale.
Saphire Edge has an annual subscription for new templates.
BCC costs the most up front but has no add on purchases.

If you're a hobbyist not likely. If you're a professional you're just looking at the value and ROI of the specific purchase.
Consider that the Avid/AVX version is $1995.
Genarts Saphire (not Edge) is $1699. Some might like to see an FCPX/Motion version of that as well.
The value of the product should be independent of the host. It's determined by the value of the targeted market IMHO.

Actually, that's one reason I'm considering it. I cut Trailers/TV spots for features, and generally everything goes out to online for finish. That's a problem when using a lot of FCPX plugins. They are awesome, but if they don't have an equivalent Avid version, it makes online/film finish a real PITA, because they have to recreate what I did. And, because of the awesomeness of a lot of the FCP X plugins out there, it never looks exactly the same. But if I use Boris FX, they'll likely have the same plugins.
If you're delivering finished product out of FCPX then it doesn't matter, but if you need to play nice with other NLE's, it's a consideration.

But I can understand the attraction if it brings compatibility with AVID systems.
Good luck to them, but I suspect there will be more downloads from Torrent sites than from their store.

Agreed, The compatibility thing is the only reason I can see for getting these, and in the end I probably won't.
