How to make a flash transition

I am wondering how to make a quick flash transition between two clips, but not like a camera flash. I want it to be a quick flash only a few frames long, I also want the flash to be more than just one solid color ie. I am hoping to make it a yellowish white color in the center and a hint of reddish around the edges, if that's possible. An example of the look I'm going for is in this video (link below) the flash occurs at 1:42

I'm not sure how it's done, but thanks for the link. Great short.

There's a Color Flash in FCPX that might be to your liking. A big part of his effect is the old-timey flash bulb sizzle sound effect he applies to it. Also to his light bulb earlier. Coincidentally I was just talking about utilizing that sound 20 minutes ago here .

When I freeze frame on the flash it's not a uniform color across the frame, but it's not yellow in the middle with red edges either, it's a slight pastel wash. Which makes me think it could be reproduced with an FCPX generator, tweak your colors, trim it down to just a few frames so you get just over half a second of screen time with a quarter second fade in & out, add your sound & I think you'll have a match. Adjust the duration if necessary.

Flawless short though. Everything about it is top shelf. Just look at the colors in their still photo! (Where's Reinout & his Rembrandt fetish?) The focus, lighting, sounds, script, the guy's voice, wow, very impressive. I particularly like the deterioration effect they apply to the closing credits.

Ben can probably tell us how to do that text effect in Motion.

Nice share.

Thanks
