Any way to apply an adjustment layer to just a connected clip?

If I have a connected clip and want to apply some masks, effects, etc via an adjustment layer, I think I need to turn the connected clip into a compound clip and apply it inside the compound clip.

I don't mind doing that pre 10.0.6, but now every compound clip needs a name and start polluting the event browser.

Any other way to accomplish this idea?

BTW, while I appreciate that you can store compound clips in the event browser, I wish they would have kept the old method where creating a compound clip was just more meta data in your project. If you want the clip in the event browser, I'd have preferred selecting the clip and using a command to save it to the event browser making the appropriate parent relation. At least for me, most of the time I just want the compound clip in the project; if I go dig up a stretch of clips to reuse elsewhere, I'd rather locate it, compound it, and save to the event browser. Maybe it's just me...

Search the plug ins. Alex4d has a great adjustment layer tool. It is stored in Titles and works very well.

OK, so I understand clearly what you're doing, why exactly can't you apply those effects directly to the Connected Clip itself? I mean, why an adjustment layer exactly? I'm sure I'm missing something here.

I believe he is saying that the adjustment layer, when applied to the connected clip as a title on top of that clip is affecting everything beneath it as opposed to just the connected clip. That is exactly how it will work in that scenario.

Using an effect on the connected clip should simply affect that clip only, and likewise using a mask on the connected clip should only affect that clip also. But using an adjustment layer title at the top of a stack of clips affects all beneath it.

"... I think I need to turn the connected clip into a compound clip and apply it inside the compound clip."

Again, why use the adjustment layer rather than apply to the compound clip? I must be missing something.

Totally agree. I thought this was one of the best things about compound clips. Apply a filter a whole group.
