Thank you very much for that guide. However, what's up with the mini? Whenever I price one, I'm ending up with an 27" iMac. There's little difference in price, but a huge difference in horse powers.

Yeah... technically, you're totally right if you buy the cinema display like I recommend for the mini in the basic config. Basically, the reason I included the mini is there is technically because you don't HAVE to buy the cinema display with the mini to run FCPX, and I wanted to list the cheapest configuration possible (which I guess I didn't actually do)... and I wanted to make sure I got in there that the new mini runs X and Motion really well... but yeah, you're probably right to just buy the imac (although, technically, if you get 3rd party RAM, you will save some money over the imac, as you can only do that with the mini... and if you connect a monitor over HDMI, or you don't need the extra ports/daisy chain your monitor to the end of your Thunderbolt chain, you also won't need the cinema display... so there are ways to save money if you're on a REALLY tight budget if you get the mini). In my case I got the mini because I had an extra Thunderbolt display lying around to attach to it... so there are a few weird configurations where running the mini will be considerably cheaper than getting an imac... I could have made that clearer.

But yes... if you can afford it and you decide you want the cinema display... just buy the imac. Nice catch.

If you adhere to Apple's idea of bringing your own keyboard, mouse, monitor, then the Mini is really a steal.
