Multicam Question

In the midst of editing my 2nd video with the multi-cam feature, and I've run into a problem, if anyone here could help it would be greatly appreciated!

Im currently on a Macbook pro late 2011 4gb ram and a 128gb solid state
Because i have such small storage all my projects and events are running off an external drive, with both plenty of space and formatted properly.
The external drive becomes extremely sluggish when I'm looking at multiple angles at once, which is why I'm wondering if it is possible to move only the multicam clip to the internal drive

I understand it would be the same size, but if the entire event is 26gb now, the multicam clip would only be 13gb yes? Or is that incorrect?

I guess what im asking is if there is a way for the multicam clip to not reference the files, so i could import only that onto the internal drive on my computer?

How is your external drive connected?
I don't understand the logic about moving the multiclip. If all your media in the event is also in the multiclip then it will be the same size.

Anyway the answer to your problem is to use proxy media.
Do your edit and then switch back to full res and render.

And moving it to the OS drive will only make things worse.

What are your hardware specs?
