I shoot on Cannon XF300. The image looks good in camera.
I place the XF card in the card reader and upon import into FCPX the image develops a shimmer.
I then create a .mov file and the shimmer goes away.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Is there some sort of fix so I don't have shimmer while editing in FCPX?

If by "shimmer" you mean lower quality, it could be because you have "Better Performance" selected in Prefs rather than "High Quality"

Yeah this is almost certainly just a normal display artifact. It can also be affected by the magnification that your viewer is set to. Resize that and you can probably minimize it, if not totally eliminate it.
