Audio is distorted. Did a FCPX update cause this?

A little over a month ago I finished the first draft of a film. Now I've reopened the timeline again to continue the work, but the audio sounds totally distorted. I've worked on the audio of my interview person, i.e. noise reduction, and was rather happy with the result. Now it sounds horrible.
Back then I exported the film as .mov. The .mov plays back fine with no audio distortion. Something has happend to the timeline.

I suspect a FCPX update in the meantime has caused this problem. Have anyone experienced the same? And more importently, does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Hope for you help!

A similar thing happened to me during the previous update.

As they say; never update in the middle of a project.

Shizzle dizzle, are they saying that? :woohoo: Minor detail i wasn't aware of. They should scream that out with big angry red letters with every update. Maybe they do. Did i miss that? What a bugger.

Are there any workarounds?

Did you try deleting render files? What version did you upgrade from? Are the audio levels hot or is the sound just distorted? I have not experienced anything like this when upgrading from 05 to 06. What kind of audio files are you using? What else has changed in the past month on your system?

Same problem here. I was doing a bunch of small projects and finished them. Then reopened a big wedding after upgrading. Lots of audio problems AND Magic Bullet Looks problems. I've had to delete most MBL from the wedding and recreate them using mLooks or the FCPX looks. The plus side of things is that MBL takes a lot longer to render. As far as audio I have found that it's fine after export.

@anickt I'm running the 10.0.6 version. Not sure what I updated from. 10.0.5 I'll assume, though.
The audio files are .wav recorded with an Zoom H4n1.
I've tried deleting render files, but that didn't help me.

@Don Rumsey Exporting didn't help me.

I can, of course, drag the original audio files in again, sync them up and adjust the audio levels again an redo the noise reduction I put on the clips. Anyone with better ideas?

If you're using synched sound check that the camera audio hasn't come unmuted.

@soundwise I see your point, but I have already deleted the camera audio :-)

Not sure if the reimport will help either. I tried it as well to no avail. I even deleted the sound file out of the event folder. Reimported and as soon as it was put into the timeline its distorted. I can play it in the event window and its fine. The original is fine as well. Its a timeline thing with me. Im just glad that all of my projects are complete. Im going to move projects and events. Wipe my current project external. Reload FCPX and start from scratch so to speak. See what happens.
