extra clicks

Let me know what you guys think....it may be a detail, but the time I spend with all the extra clicks is extra time wasted for me.....
I consider this a bug, because it causes me to have extra steps in my process. So, here it goes: If I have a clip selected and I right click detach audio. The result is the main video clip and the connected audio clip become both highlighted/selected with a yellow outline.
I would much rather have it, and believe that in the first place, it is logical that should I then click on either one of these aforementioned highlighted clips that only that specific clicked clip would remain highlighted. However, what actually happens is nothing. They both remain highlighted/selected.
My extra steps are having to click outside in the dead space in order to de-select them and then clicking/selecting the one I want.
Some further logic is that if I had intended on keeping them as one logical entity I would never have detached but preferred to Expand Audio/Video instead.
Thus I'd like the ability to be able to immediately highlight what I click.
(PS ...editing is a work in progress...so please dont give me answers like why didnt you just bring in the video only to begin with....

It has been always like that in FCP Classic (I know it from version 3 on only, though). You unlinked video and audio in a clip, then you had to click into the gray.
Has never really bothered me. I have the feeling that you can pretend the one or the other mistake that way.

Cmd-click on the portion you do not want to have selected.

it feels a bit smoother this way. Although, if you weigh in the clicks its traded with a keystroke....but these are just details though...FCPX is finally the beast that it was meant to be. That doesn't mean I'm not addicted to updates though.
