Replace file with same video but different format

Hey guys. For class I am editing from a source clip that was an 80gb prores file. I found out I need to turn in the actual source clip with the project, but 80 gb is way to big.

I went and converted the file to an mp4, which shaved it down to an acceptable 2 gb.

My question now is how can I replace the prores footage with the mp4 footage? When I go to relink my footage, it only lets me relink with the exact same file. The timecode and everything of the .mp4 is the same, it's just the name is different.

Any way to reconnect using the .mp4?
Thanks!

Import the mp4 into your event, then add it into the Storyline via the Replace function.

Is there a way to create a proxie of the file after it has already been imported?

Replacing doesn't seem to work, it just inserts either the beginning, end, or entire clip into the timeline.

when you add it, slip on replace from start and it will be the same
to make proxy, rightclik on the clip and chose transcode media ;)

Is the replace from start assuming that the start handle is in the precise starting time as the original clip? When i go to create the proxie it tells me there is not enough disk space. This may be because the project resides in a sparseimage (required for the class)..
