image the timeline
now on the timeline you have your clip
you park the playhead at the beginning of the clip
now press the space bar to play the clip
the clip should play smoothly
now add on a few effects and you will see the orange bar above indicating it is rendering
now put the playhead at the beginning of the clip again and press spacebar to play again
notice how the clip is jittery?
notice how it seems to drop frames?
I want to recreate this look for a security camera feel.
i dont want to make it jump cuts. I want it to feel like frames have dropped.
How do I do this?
I have tried deleting frames but cant get that right feel

If you do a search of this site for "dropped frames" you will come to this thread
www.fcp.co/forum/4-final-cut-pro-x-fcpx/...-for-an-effect#15441
with links to a free effect created by one of our marvelously generous members, you can DL it & have the missing frames look you want.
That free plugin set is offered thru appstore, however, if you want to create the effect with a more hands on feel, you can do it yourself. Select your clip in the timeline, place the playhead at the beginning, using your arrow keys move frame by frame, count 10 clicks, click the range tool, click 5 clicks, delete & repeat thru your clip. Check the effect, if you want the "stutters" to be longer or briefer or occur more frequently, no problem, just adjust your number of arrow clicks. This way, you can fine tune the effect to the perfect look you want. Your audience will believe they're watching a security cam, catching some criminals.
have fun
