Can't move or duplicate Projects/Events with 10.0.6 was created by Mickey G
Every time I try and duplicate a project FCP just hangs up on the “preparing to process” screen.
At first I thought this was an issue with an event that was started in 10.0.5 and then converted to 10.0.6 however I’ve since started many events in 10.0.6 and cannot get them to move/duplicate.
I’m running the latest version of Mountain Lion.
Here is a link that clearly shows the issues I’m having:
vimeo.com/52143185
Anyone else having this issue? Any help resolving this would be really appreciated.
In the meantime I’ve just been doing a finder copy/paste to archive projects to another drive.
Are there any issues duplicating using this method? I understand that when FCPX duplicates projects it generates a unique ID for the copied project.

Have you tried repairing permissions?

Yes I’ve tried repairing permissions, deleting prefs, restarting. I have not reinstalled the app, that will be my next step.

Hi Mickey,
If reinstalling the app does not solve your problem:
Duplicating a Project together with its referenced Events and Render files can take quite a while. How long have you waited before you have force-quit the application?
I have found that deleting all Project and Event render files before duplicating makes the process go much faster. You can always re-render whenever you need to work on the Project again.
To answer your second question: duplicating from the Finder does not create a unique ID for the duplicated Events and Projects. Duplicating from the Finder is only acceptable if you delete the original Events and Projects after having duplicated them. If not you will get conflicts whenever FCP10 sees Events or Projects with the same ID on different drives.
