I'm trying to find a way to get FCP X 10.6 to read the metadata of my video and then overlay a running date and time stamp. Any ideas? Plugins etc...

Not that I'm aware of, but it would make FCP X a fantastic video app for dealing with legal video work. Would need to read TOD timecode and calendar date directly from the clip's own metadata. Any of you aspiring plugin creators out there up for this task?

Agreed, nothing I've found that will pull TOD from clip metadata but you can easily use a timecode generator and set your starting point, and then use a title or a time and date generator to do what you need. It won't be as automatic, but easy to setup.

EDIT: I should add that this won't satisfy all legal requirements, but depending on the situation it may work for you.
