All,
Came across this comparison video of different NLEs taking the same clip at 105% , 95% and 125% and preserving the pitch.
Interesting

In early versions of X I got excellent results even at 125% retiming of audio. Something changed around 10.0.4 and that went away. I have submitted feedback several times on this.

Yeah I thought it was just me. Something did change around the spring of last year. Now it is Mr. Roboto for any time changes in audio.

Interesting, indeed. I would question whether the Avid should be a maybe instead of the yes it was given across the board. Would have been nice to see a Logic Pro comparison.

If you want to get serious results you don't use an NLE to do that...
Any NLE for that matter.
Best tool for the job is Serato's Pitch n' time.
Unfortunately the Pro version runs only in ProTools.
The LE version of it, runs in Logic (AU) but the Pro version is light years ahead...
Still the algorithm in the LE version is much better than any NLE...

I concur with these findings. Apart from dedicated DAWs Smoke is the only app in this list that really can be used for this kind of work.

Logic Pro and STP pitch-shift flawlessly. Yeah, what the hell happened to FCP X?

Is it really surprising that an NLE isn't the proper tool to do audio work? I mean, yeah, a DAW is another tool to learn, but it's crucial if you're doing any serious work or you want good results.

The audio retiming in 10.0.6 is bad and also increase the audio level 6 db.
